Angel Academy, 1941. Founding member of the Mt. Angel Gardening Club. Volunteer at Friendship House in New York City, 1950's. Married Edward J. Conroy, Jr. and moved to San Francisco in 1955. She served her community by volunteering at Head Start, Hunters Point, founding member of T.E.K.A.; human and social activist with many organizations. Moved to Petaluma in 1972. Volunteered at Hospice, P.E.P., St. Vincent de Paul Schools. Member of C.L.A.S., Y.L.I., Church Women United, N.C.C.W., D.I.G.S. Survived by husband, Edward J. Conroy; son, Edward (and Karla) Conroy of Petaluma; daughters, Naomi Conroy of San Francisco, Clare (and Ian) Bott of Harpenden, U.K., Sara Conroy, of Houston, TX, Ruth Conroy of San Francisco, and Brigid Conroy of Petaluma. Proud grandmother of Katie, Jill and Emily Conroy of Petaluma and Sophie Bottof Harpenden, U.K. Also survived by brother Oswald Hassing; sisters Mary Louise Billington, Frances Hauth, and Bertha Heisler all of Oregon. Many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Friends are invited to meet Friday, November 8, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 125 Sonoma Mt. Pkwy., Petaluma where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. An evening Vigil Service will be held at the church on Thursday, November 7th at 7:00 p.m. Friends may call for Visitation from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at ADOBE CREEK FUNERAL HOME, 331 Lakeville St., Petaluma, CA. Share your garden with Florence, bring a flower or foliage to contribute to a celebratory bouquet. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Petaluma or the Petaluma Kitchen.
